Happy Valentine’s Day: You Are (Not) Alone

Minna san, konnichi wa!

As you all know, V-day is tomorrow, and I want to wish all of you a happy day full of love, family, friends and food! 🙂

I have been reserving this weekend to tackle one of anime’s most confusing titles, Neon Genesis Evangelion. I plan to watch the series first, then the End of Evangelion movie, and finally the remake movies, which I am most excited for. To be honest, I don’t really want to watch the series, just the movies, but hey, I better view this classic to its entirety!

For those who have seen it, do you have to watch the series? Or can you skip to the movies without losing too much detail? So puzzling!

Thank you to all of my new followers – you guys are the best! Also, thanks for reading my anime reviews – I greatly appreciate it! Happy Valentine’s Day from Takuto’s Anime Cafe, and until next time, this has been

  1. The remake are a very different beast than the originals. There are different characters, such as the inclusion of Mari in the remake movies.Personally I think viewing the series first will be good for you. If nothing else it makes you appreciate the art of the remakes since the original TV series had a terriblely low budget and it’s pretty obvious.

  2. The first “remake” movie follows the series quite closely if I recall, but then the followup movies go in a different direction. Despite the unsatisfactory ending I would still recommend checking out the series first.

  3. I think you have to see the series. To get the origin that started it all, so to speak. Though I have heard that the movies are just covering the same as the series but in a more updated friendly version.

I also tackled this series too. And I have yet to complete my journey through the franchise. Not sure where to begin with regard to the movies. So once you are past the series hopefully you will let me know. Kind of confusing.
